Sponge Iron Traded on IME

On Saturday, April 15, 2023, the IME witnessed trade of 125,000 tonnes of sponge iron on its metals and minerals trading floor.

According to a report by the IME's International Affairs and PR, the IME sold on the same floor 200,000 tonnes of iron ore pellets, 14,450 tonnes of CRS for home appliance manufacturers, 1,830 tonnes of steel blooms, 4,210 tonnes of rebars and 3,427 tonnes of I-beams.

IME's oil and petrochemical trading floor was the next which saw trade of 23,000 tonnes of lube cut (heavy & light grades), 16,634 tonnes of chemicals, 3,991 tonnes of polymeric products, 100 tonnes of sulfur lumps and 200 tonnes of bitumen.

It's worth noting as well that the IME's export ring saw trade of 26,282 tonnes of bitumen and 20,000 tonnes of granular sulfur.

Based on this report, the exchange saw trade of 220,000 tonnes of iron ore concentrate and 100,000 tonnes of fine iron ore on its open auction trading floor.

Moreover, the IME sold 10,644 tonnes of cement in matching trading system.

Last but not least was the IME's side market with 2,455 tonnes of copper wire, 500 tonnes of alloy ingots, 300 tonnes of rebars (made of alloy steel) and 208 tonnes of printing & writing papers traded on it.
