2.4 Million tonnes of Commodities Changed Hands on IME

Within the week ending on August 4, 2023, the IME witnessed trade of 2,403,386 tonnes of commodities with a total trading value of nearly 533 million USD on its physical market.
2.4 Million tonnes of Commodities Changed Hands on IME

According to a report by the IME's International Affairs and PR, the exchange saw on its metals and minerals trading floor trade of 1,918,039 tonnes of commodities valued at more than 317 million USD.

On this floor the IME sold 1,015,114 tonnes of cement, 535,000 tonnes of iron ore, 189,885 tonnes of steel, 160,700 tonnes of sponge iron, 10,659 tonnes of copper, 6,640 tonnes of aluminum, 2,000 tonnes of cast iron, 1,360 tonnes of zinc and 250 tonnes of molybdenum concentrate.

Moreover, the IME witnessed on both domestic and export rings of its oil and petrochemical trading floor 473,152 tonnes of commodities worth nearly 209 million USD.

Commodities traded on this floor included 171,000 tonnes of vacuum bottom, 121,875 tonnes of bitumen, 99,229 tonnes of polymeric products, 39,710 tonnes of sulfur, 24,000 tonnes of lube cut, 11,880 tonnes of chemicals, 4,665 tonnes of oil, 650 tonnes of petroleum products, 250 tonnes of feedstocks and 200 tonnes of insulation.

The IME also traded within the same week 12,194 tonnes of commodities on its side market. It's worth noting that the IME's side market played host to trade of magnesium ingots for the first time.
